Chase Posted by: Báden at 02-01-2014 20:21 PM, Last Modified 02-01-2014 20:21 PM |
The young man in the hooded sweater walked briskly down the dark, chilling winter's night road. He glances quickly over his shoulder, and is now walking faster. A few seconds and he takes another lightning fast look over his shoulder, then he breaks into a run. One last glance, and he's sprinting. His hood begins to fly off his head, but he grabs it, pulls it back up, and continues his evasion of an assailant we have not yet seen. He sprints down the street for what seems like eternity, then comes to a chain-link fence. He jumps the fence in a matter of seconds, but knows whatever's chasing him won't be affected by that small inconvenience. He comes to the other end of the fence and jumps it aswell, and suddenly finds himself in a road. Luckily, it is late, and no one is driving, so he won't be hit, unluckily, neither will his pursuer. He comes to another fence, this one much too big to jump over quickly, and he can HEAR the thing chasing him, breathing raggedly but steadily, sounding hungry. He shoots left, and is running the length of the fence, he has also gained some ground on the thing chasing him. Running along the fence, he sees an opening in the fence, what appears to be a doorway, with the door on his side missing. Instead, there is only a smooth, thick metal pole standing about 2 inches from the end of the fence. It is this pole he grabs, using his momentum to fling him around in a 180-degree turn. He catches another glimpse of the thing chasing him, and, Christ, has it gotten bigger?! It is covered in fur and, he's pretty sure, has long, sinister claws poking out of it's fingers. It was on all fours, but when he first saw it, it was walking upright. He observes all this in a split second, then he's running down the other side of the fence. He doesn't realize it, but he just turned into a cemetery. The creature lost some ground at the U-turn, but it catches up quickly. The young man has time to think 'Someone saw me running, then called the cops, and the-' but that was all. He felt the weight of the creature on his back as it tackled him, the searing pain of it's claws as it tore him open from behind, then, finally, the sharp, short pain of fangs plunging into the base of his neck as the creature ripped out the top of his spine. Then, he is embraced by darkness, and everything turns to ice. In case your wondering, he was wrong. Unfortunately, nobody saw him running for his life. Also unfortunately, nobody ever finds his corpse....... |
