Ah.
I was thinking about going out to cook on offshore rigs for when I got out of the navy. But then I got married. And found that unless I went to Europe/North Sea most of our offshore oil rigs are in warm humid areas. I don't like warm and I detest humid. I like being on the water but not enough to endure heat and humidity. So... got out and went to school instead. LOL

Norfolk yes. Two sea duty postings out of Norfolk. USS Lapon and USS Dwight D Eisenhower. Shore duty in Maine and then Sea Duty again in Long Beach California. Schools in San Diego, Groton, Dam Neck, Meridian. Then out after 10+ years.
And I went into Electronics for schooling. I had started in the Navy in electronics so figured I would go back to it. Specialized in computer technology and assembly. The hardware side. Can whistle a bit on the software side but much prefer the hardware side. But also standard electronics mostly analog though with some digital.
