Hey all, I'm always looking to improve my writing, I'm still kinda new, so if you have suggestions, please comment or message me, I would honestly appreciate it.

The explosion rocked the narrow walkway of the relatively small transport vehicle. I raised my pitifully tiny 9mm pistol and looked down the sights, realizing for the first time that I could actually die here. "Move, dammit, MOVE!" the CO yelled at me
"The whole thing's coming apart, we have to get out of here NOW!" With that, everything snapped into focus. Sure I might die, but isn't that what soldiers are trained to do? Fight, then die when you can fight no more? "Yes, sir!" I yelled back, and began sprinting toward the rear of the ship once more. It was a rather small transport vehicle, used mainly to ship small groups of otherwolders to and from earth without much hassle. The unfortunate thing is that most of the smaller transports only have two dozen emergency crafts at most, but it's usually more like five or six. In this case, there were eight, two in front, six attached to the staff quarters at the rear of the ship. We were closer to the front when evacuation became necessary, but we had also been accompanied by many of the immigrating aliens, and they were much faster than us. I have no idea who is attacking us, or why, but they seem determined to bring the ship down, and they would soon be successful. Another explosion and the walkway loses some of the cheap steel panelling on the ceiling, exposing flaming wire and just as cheap insulation. We reach the staff quarters and see there is only two emergency craft left, and they are being fought over violently. "Look away, recruit, you shouldn't see this" the CO said, and I did. I heard three bursts of gunfire from a rifle, then the sounds of aliens fighting for survival ceased. "Move!" Jenson repeated, and I did, trying not to notice the corpses on the floor. We dove into an emergency craft, much too small and dingy to be called an escape pod, and I immediately noticed there was hardly enough space for two people, let alone more than one of the aliens, whose shortest was 7'2". Without waiting, Jenson ignited the engines and detached the craft from the main ship. As he did so, a massive explosion reverberated through the whole transport, causing the light-armored hull the shudder and loosen dangerously. "Punch it!" I heard myself yell, then Jenson did just that. The engines roared to full power, whipping us away from the MX-385 standard-class transport in time to see a blinding white flash arc towards the center of it's tube-shaped hull. The flash connected with a huge KA-BOOM, and the transport tore itself in half in a fantastic fireball that was almost too bright to look at. The fireball was short-lived, quickly swallowing all the oxygen left on the ship then putting itself out. During this the ship, now just two huge chunks of scrap, was snatched up by the nearby planet's gravity field. We, too, were being overcome by the planet's gravity, the craft's dual engines were too old and worn to be effective for very long, and both Jenson and I knew we were going to be forced to land.......
